The budget reflector is safety certified, although there are numerous flaws in the design to reduce the price. For example the reflector is angular rather than curved. For typical lighting applications, this would not be a problem, but for hydroponics, this may cause "hotspots" which may damage plants growing near to the light. Additionally, the ends of the reflector are uncapped, allowing energy to be wasted rather than directed towards a plant. We recommend the use of a quality reflector, or an air cooled reflector. The quality reflectors and the air cooled reflectors are available separately, or cheaper as part of complete lighting systems.
