Instructions For Placement

To use the button, for example, follow the steps:

1. Take a copy of the image that you want to use. (Many web browsers have a "save image" option or suchlike in context sensitive menus. This allows you to save any images you like, although you seek permission from the copyright holder before re-use.) Note that every image has a different name, so if you want a different image, you will have adapt this example slightly.

2. Save the image in your web site. Note that if you reference the image from a different directory, you will have to adapt this example. This example assumes that the image is in the same directory as the web page that references the image.

3. To use the image, stored in the same directory as your web page, copy the following HTML:

4. Paste the fragment of HTML into your web page. This step is extremely dependant upon the software that you use to create and maintain web pages. If you maintain the web page source code directly, merely paste the fragment into the web page source code. If you use a graphical web page editor, use "insert raw HTML" or suchlike. Alternatively, it may easier to add the required image to the web page and hyperlink it to http://www.blunt.co.uk/.

5. Test your work. Access all modified web pages. Validate web pages, if possible.

6. Upload your changes.

7. Test your work, again. Ensure that upload was sucessful. Some web servers are case sensitive, which may cause image references to fail. (To avoid this problem, only use lower case files only.) Use a web based, HTML validation program.
